Race 13
August 27, 2011

The riders that have raced in every race so far this year at Fly MX Park will now see their names at the bottom of the points standings page in the Championship category. You are now eligible for a Season Championship Trophy or Plaque. Thirteen is the magic number to make your name appear. There aren't very many riders listed YET, but there are several more still eligible (currently over fifty). Remember, we still have FIVE more races to go! If you have raced EIGHT races so far this season at Fly MX Park, you still have time. But you must race every race left this season. As a reminder, we have added the make up race from the one we had to cancel early in the season due to the big flood.

We have two, 2 race weekends coming up to finish out the season. Our 2 race weekends are as follows: September 24th and 25th and October 1st and 2nd. Remember, the 25th is our "Open Pro Race for the $1,000. purse, always a crowd pleaser!! Of course don't forget our next race is September 11.

I should mention that many of you probably heard that a "criminal" from New Matamoras broke into the track, and Guy's Motorhome and stole Cody's new 2011 Honda CRF 450R. Well, good things do happen to good people, every once in awhile. Roberta got a tip that Cody's bike (sans decals) was spotted being ridden by this "criminal" who had just got out of jail only five days before committing this crime. I should also mention that this person is only in his early twenties and before his last stay in jail was an entrepreneur in New Matamoras, providing many substances of pleasure to the local consumers. After contacting the proper authorities the bike is now back where it belongs. Cody will be back on the track this coming Sunday.

Anyway, enough preliminary information, on to the race!! It was a good day at the track and we saw some great races.

Jamie Burton was strutting his stuff today in the combined classes of 250 A, B, C and the 50+. This 50+ rider was second overall behind Josh Davis. Not too shabby a performance for a Grandfather to beat the young guys! I am currently working on another page of pictures, one of which will feature Jamie doing a little "Show Boating" on the track!

It looks like Cody Taggert is catching on to his Quad, he is really starting to open it up in the Quad 80-110cc Class. Jacob Visnic got the win today in this class.

A family I have never talked about before, but requires mentioning is the family of Cole Smith. These are the nicest most laid back Mother and Father of a racer I have ever met. You never see them along side the track yelling at their son to go faster. You never see them berating their son in the pits.  Cole just calmly goes out on the track and decimates the competition. In fact, Cole has become very much like his parents, he usually is the most calm, cool, collected young man you will meet. He has nerves of steel and the calm of a Monk. I wish more parents in all sports would take a page from this families approach to racing motocross.

Deron Glass, Vince Boggs and Brad Goddard had a great battle in the 125cc B-C Class today. The lead was held until the last lap by Vince Boggs. Deron got around him for the win!!

Ethan Geho, is looking very good on the track in our new Quad School Boy Class. This is his first season of racing.

Lastly, we had an excellent battle in the 50cc Class today. A new racer to the track,  Michael Yoker and one of our regulars, Wyatt Abele really duked it out in the 7-8 age group class. Also, Tate Elliot and Easton Little were in a good battle in the 4-6 age group class. In the end it was Wyatt Abele and Tate Elliot that came away with the wins. Great race to all!!

The Championship races are starting to heat up in several classes. Some are probably already decided, others will go right to the last moto of the last race to decide the Champion. Hope you will stick with us to see the end. If you haven't noticed, we have built a new announcers tower and are in the process of building a new sign up building. Hopefully, the construction will be complete by our next two race weekend. Until then, remember;  WE EAT, SLEEP, RIDE, TALK, BREATH, DREAM, LIVE, AND LOVE MOTOCROSS!!
