Race 12

August 7, 2011

It all begins here with words! But not until I finish the last race story. Also, the points standings on my jump drive are corrupted, I will have to reload the info. It may be a day or two before they are posted. However the OVMX Standing are corrected, they just don't include the last race at Wildwood on the 31st of July. Well I have finished the last race story, so now on to the next.

Boy did we have a big rain just after we got the first moto underway. The track became a little greasy, but it was still ridable. I am always amazed at the riders who won't ride if it is muddy. To me, you are only a dedicated motocrosser if you learn to ride in all conditions and that means mud, dust, hardpack, big classes, small classes, etc. Motocross has ALWAYS been run in all conditions. A championship can be won or lost based on a riders ability to adapt to all sorts of riding conditions. Don't forget, bikes and quads are designed (engineered) to handle MUD.

If you missed the combined classes of the 25+ A, the 250cc School-Boy, the 50+, and the College-Boy, you missed one of the best rides I have seen Guy Longwell have in quite awhile. The "Old Man of Motocross", put his head down, grabbed a lead and never relinquished it. The only rider out of all of these classes that got around him was his son Cody, riding in the 25+A class. Pretty amazing if you ask me. Guy said that was the best birthday present he could have ever given himself, he turned 57 on August 4th.

Usually, Jaedon Walraven and Hunter Lavy trade wins in the 65cc and the Mini-Jinior classes. But, today Jaedon walked away with the win in both classes. He was on fire!

The fifty class was fun today, Easton Little was really flying in his class. Not only did he get the win today, but he got the biggest air I have ever seen him hit over the finish line jump!

A new rider to the track had a bad day today. Seth Slaman wrecked on the back side of the track and broke his wrist. He had to be transported to Marietta Hospital for treatment. We haven't heard much except that he was sent to Morgantown for surgery. Hopefully everything is going well.

The points shown on our web site for the OVMX series are NOT Correct. We only have points for two of the four races at Wildwood and one of two for Reno. However, the points for Fly's OVMX are correct. If your son or daughter competed in this series, could you please contact Brent Windland and request that he publish the correct four OVMX races on his web site so we can get them entered into the scoring software. It would help me immensely. As soon as this information is made available, we will publish the FINAL correct Points Standings on our web site.

Until next race, keep in mind, EVERYDAY, is a GOOD DAY for MOTOCROSS!!!
