Race Story 12

August 1, 2010

I am sorry this story is so late, my home internet connection has been out since Tuesday the 3rd.... My internet is back, so hopefully I can get the story written before something else happens!

It was another hot day for a race, it seems as though we have had our share of hot, muggy days this year. We had several new riders and some returning for the first time in awhile.

Nicole Hays was back at the track for her first race since she broke her wrist. I was really impressed by her speed, it sure didn't look like she had been off for four weeks. I think she actually looked faster then before her injury!! She must have been watching motocross training videos in preparation for her return. Whatever she did, it worked!!

The combined 250 B and C class was fun to watch today, Andrew Arnold was flying in the first moto, but Ben Smith ended up with the win by pulling away from the pack in the second. Also, Gavin Shaver got the overall in the C class.

It was funny that Steven Glendenning's Dad and I were talking before the race about how Steven needed to practice his holeshots. He always seems to be mid-pack off the line. When the races started, Steven seemed to have the starts wired today and was getting the holeshots! He must have decided to prove his Dad wrong!! He got the overall in the 250cc School Boy class.

It was just the other day I was saying that vince Boggs couldn't seem to hang on for the win, he would lead for 5 of 6 laps and get passed in the end. Well he proved me wrong in the first moto!! Vince got the win! However, he didn't get the overall for the day, a new rider to Fly MX Park came away with the win: Tanner Martin.

I think Braden Skinner is getting over his injury and hitting his groove again, he was really flying!! He looked like the old Braden, he is definitely faster with much better control!! Dustin Lamp is going to have to keep his eye on Braden!! The Open A and B Combo class was very fast today! Billy Burton won the A and Dustin Lamp the B class.

We had a big Quad Amateur class today, almost a full gate! the first moto was pretty much chaos off the start, there was a big pile-up in the first turn. Adam Cline got the win and Michael Bragg came in second.

Jacob Visnic looks faster every race on his big quad. He is getting holeshots and leading for a longer period of time each race. Brandon Smitley took the win in the Quad 80-110cc class and Joel Hatfield took second.

Hunter Bever seems to getting the hang of his Quad Junior machine. His speed has really improved and he looks good through the double jumps. He came in second behind Ricky Crosby today.

Well, that is about it for this race. Hope to see everyone at the next one!! It will be another "Great Day for Motocross" at Fly MX Park!!
