Race 7
June 17, 2012
I know the economy is
still not the greatest and rider turnout isn't what it could be,
but each race I think about how lucky we are to have such a nice
facility like Fly MX Park to enjoy the sport that each of us have
spent a lifetime enjoying. We each need to tell Guy and Roberta
"Thanks" for continuing to provide such a nice track, even though
the profits are not there. Most of you may not know how difficult
it is to continue to have races with a lower rider turnout. I don't
know the exact finances at the track, but I do know Guy has lost
money for several races this year. So the next time you feel
like you are not appreciated at the track, keep in mind it is
"YOU", all of the riders that continue to come out and support Fly
MX Park, that have helped keep the track open this season. Also,
once again,"YOU" the riders, families and friends, are all GREATLY
APPRECIATED!!! Lucky for all of us that Guy is basically
fulfilling a dream of owning and operating his own Motocross Track
and that is what motivates him to keep going. Someone that is just
into owning a track simply to reap profit would have already been
closed.
KEEP ON RACING AT FLY
MX PARK!!
I want to make sure to
put in a plug for "Big Guy's MX School". Many of you may not
realize that Guy holds one of the best MX Schools in the Tri-State
Area. What made me think of mentioning this was watching Willy
Wilkinson today in the 250cc C Class. I mentioned to Guy that I
thought he was riding much faster, smoother, and consistent today.
Also, I said I couldn't believe the change in him in just one
race!! Guy said he spent some extra time with Willy recently.
Then it made sense! Something many of you may not realize is
that Guy can work with riders of any skill level. His school is not
just for beginners, many Pro Riders have re-attended his school to
continue to improve their skills. Riders of all ages and skill
levels can benefit from Guy's many years of training, racing,
observing, teaching and simply being a great student of the sport
of Motocross! I would venture to say very few people in the country
have been as deeply involved in the sport of Motocross as Guy
Longwell. He has been involved in racing Motocross, Hare-Scrambles,
Hill Climbs, Flat-Track and he was a Pro Rider in the GNCC Series
(sponsered by Yamaha), since the early 70's, that means he has been
racing during 5 decades, pretty amazing. Keep in mind Guy can make
a "Better Racer" out of any of you.
Jim Roth and Tres
Campbell had a good "Back-and Forth" Battle in the Super-Mini Class
today. They changed positions a few times before Jim came out on
top. Good win today Jim!
I understand we have
another new "Nickname" for one of our other 50cc riders. We now
have Ronnie "Monster" Dentz competing against Michael "Mad Dog"
Yoker. I am not sure I would want to race in that class, it sounds
pretty intimidating!
I don't know if
everyone noticed or not when I mentioned that we finally had our
"FIRST" Quad Rider to do a triple at Fly MX Park. Blake Tornes hit
the Triple through the Five Pack almost every lap in both of his
Motos in the Quad Pro Class. Of course, he performed this feat on a
KTM Quad! I would have expected no less. "Wild Man" Huggins, the
challenge is to you!
Don't forget our next
race is July 8th. We look forward to seeing you there!!
