RACE

18, 2013
We didn't
have a hard rain today, but I don't think it ever really quit
raining all day. Man was the track muddy! I never saw so much rain
from a 30% chance predicted by the weatherman. I am glad it wasn't
a 50% chance, we would have had to broke out the life boats.
Anyway,
there were still several die hard motocross racers that weren't
afraid of the mud. We even had a couple of little guys willing to
give it a go! To give you an idea of how muddy it was, I saw Steven
Glendenning on the ground more times in one moto, then I have ever
seen him in the entire time he has been racing at Fly MX Park. I
should mention I consider him one of the best mud racers that has
ever ridden here. Steven still got the win today in the 250 B
class, I don't know how he had the energy to finish, let alone
win.
Nate
Carpenter got his first win of the season in the 250 C class today.
He looked good out there in the mud. With that win he moves into
third place in the Championship standings with two races to
go.
I think
I mentioned in the last story that Bryan Huggins got the win in
race 4 and it put him ahead by 4 points over Jeremy Phemester
in the Quad Amateur class. What I forgot was I was looking at the
points from race 5. Actually, Bryan was ahead by 8 points after
race 4 and it was Jeremy the closed the gap with the win in the
mud. This race could go right down to the wire to declare a winner.
Nice ride Jeremy! Good luck to both of you for the remainder of the
season.
Kevin
Wilson and Dave Eddy battled in the Quad Vet +30 class today. I
have to say, the coveralls Kevin was wearing had to be the
brightest lime green I have ever seen. They were so bright that I
couldn't look directly at them without sunglasses. However it only
took one lap on the track for the brightness to fade considerably.
By the end of the first moto it was hard to tell who was who. I
have to mention that after the end of the first moto, Guy gave
everyone the option of calling it a day and let the points stand
based on one moto. Two groups decided to go for a second moto and I
have to say they are the DIEHARD motocross riders. This class, the
Quad Vet +30 and the College boy class decided to ride both motos.
As it turned out Dave Eddy got the win today, but both riders put
in a good ride. I hope you guys got your Quads cleaned by now. I'll
bet that the two of you took home about 100 pounds of Fly MX
Park.
I think
I know who has the best conditioning of any rider at Fly MX Park
after todays race. Brandon White not only rode both motos, but he
also rode two classes as well. He actually looked faster on his
last few laps of the second moto then the first. He got the wins in
the 125cc B-C class and the College Boy Class. He is our DIEHARD
Motocross Rider of the day! He is the Championship points leader in
both of these classes.
One last
note, I wanted to welcome Lacey and Emma Napier to the track. I am
sorry you came on such a bad weather day, I hope you can come back
and race with us again.
Don't
forget, our next race is Sunday, September 8. Hope to see you at
Fly MX Park!
