Race
Story 3
April 15,
2012
The
weather couldn't have been better, the temperature was just right
and no rain. The track was in perfect condition, all in all,
another good day for racing. Guy had to water the track between
motos, and it stayed good until the end of the day, very little
dust.
Cole
Smith was flying in the Super-Mini Class today. But the real story
in this class was the fact that Hunter Shriner, Hobie Howiler and
Tres Campbell stayed with Cole for most of the moto. If you are
staying on the same lap as Cole, you are really putting in some
fast lap times.
The
Open A and B Classes were competitive today. In fact, after
watching Anthony Thomas do a good job of keeping up with Billy
Burton in the A class, I would say he is close to joining this
class soon. Anthony won the B class and actually finished second in
the A class, if he had been riding in that class.
Michael
"MAD MIKE" Yoker comes away with the win today in the 50cc (7-8)
Race Class today. All of the riders in this class stayed close and
competitive all day. Easton Little and and Ronnie Dentz were right
there with MAD MIKE.
The father
and son race team of Tom and Chase Brown made a Great Showing of
themselves today in the 250cc Class. Zac Bowers came away with the
win, but Tom and Chase got 2nd and 3rd respectively. Tom is really
riding hard this season for not riding during the last couple
of years.
In the
combined 40+ and College Boy Classes, Jamie Burton, a
fifty-two year old rider, led the entire group to the finish Line.
I think Jamie has found the secret of "The Fountain of Youth". Joe
Kimes was riding very well today in the 40+ class until the halfway
mark of the second moto; he went down hard in the five pack and
appeared to be stunned for awhile. The race had to be stopped and
called a day for the second moto. Joe was later seen walking around
the pit area, so he seems to be OK, however I am sure he will be
sore.
Cole
Smith also got the win in the Mini-Senior Class today. Once again
he had Hobie Howiler in close tow today for both motos. I said it
last race and have to say it again; Hobie Howiler has definitly hit
another realm of speed this season.
Adam
Campbell (a 30+ rider) looked good today; he rode in the combined
25+, 30+, and 250A Classes. Not only did he get the Hole Shot both
motos and led for several laps before Billy Burton got around him.
As far as I can remember, he finished second overall, winning
the 30+ class and finishing ahead of the 250cc A Class.
All
in all, another Great Day for Motocross at Fly MX Park.
On a sad
note, everyone needs to send their best wishes out to Darrell
Blake, Wiatt and Travis Blakes' Dad. He suffered a stroke while at
work in New York the previous week. The family went to see him in
the hospital and missed the past race. Here's hoping everything
goes well with his recovery and the entire family will be back at
the track enjoying one of their favorite pastimes soon.
Don't
forget, if you would like to see your favorite rider mentioned in
the race story, stop up and let the announcer know. Also, "We eat,
sleep, ride, talk, breath, dream, live and love Motocross! See you
at the next race!!
