RACE 14 September 11, 2011
I don't know about everyone else, but
I got really choked up when we had our "Moment of Reflection" at
1pm in rememberance of all of the folks that died on 9/11. It
was exceptionaly appropriate that our "First Responders" sounded
their Siren for that moment, to me that signified the FACT that the
United States of America will
NEVER GO QUIETLY!!! We never back down from problems or
attacks!!! We will
ALWAYS defend ourselves!!!
The day started out really good, the
track was great, temperature perfect and NO RAIN. We raced the
entire first Moto with hardly a mishap, EXCEPT Guy went down hard
over the five-pack. He said he had been wanting to try the triple
for awhile. Today was the day, he didn't get the hole shot, but he
did pass Jamie through the whoop section. I am guessing he figured
if he was to stay in the hunt for the Moto win he had to do the
triple. It DID NOT go well for him, he hit the throttle a little
too hard and got the front wheel too high. Picture to Follow! I
have a new page of pictures coming soon. Guy has been moving a
little slow since he hit the ground, but I think he is on the mend.
The day got worse after the second Moto started; THE RAIN
CAME!
Just so everyone is aware, the final
results from the OVMX series at Wildwood have been posted on their
site. I will have the updated results of all ten races posted by
the end of this weekend, with the best of eight posted at the
bottom of the OVMX Points Standings page. As far as I can tell, the
results for the nine races I have posted are now correct. As soon
as I get the last race and the best of eight, the awards should be
presented by Brent Winland at Wildwood. Hopefully he will post the
date soon.
There were new racers at this race. In
fact a little guy by the name of Ronnie Dentz won the 50cc (7-8)
Race Bike class today. Welcome to Fly MX, I hope you will be
back.
Cole Masten made a good showing of
himself today. He rode in a class with the "Big Dogs" and hung
right in there with them. If you don't know what I mean by "Big
Dogs", I mean Billy Burton and Cody Longwell in the Open A class.
Cole rode in the 250cc A class. Speaking of the "Big Dogs", if I
haven't said this before, Cody Longwell is without a doubt the best
mud rider to ever make laps at the track. He makes riding in the
mud look SO EASY!
It was good to see Rob Visnic back on
the track, he looked good out there, now if we could just get Billy
Goske, Rob Visnic, and Ron Raber on the track together, we could
get our D class rolling again
The season is winding down quickly, we
only have three race weekends left for this year. If you get the
chance, check out our new Sign-Up Building. We should be moved into
it by this weekend.
