Another "Great
Day for Motocross" at Fly MX Park!!!
We had several new
riders at the track and several that we just haven't seen for
awhile! Sydney Sams and Ashton Wasmer both made appearances,
coming from the Cross Country scene at Rick Sams' Mid-Ohio
Valley Hare Scramble Series. It was good to see them
back, hopefully they will get another break from their series and
visit again soon. Good luck to them in their current series!
Nathan Stevens
(Pro Rider) made a great "come from behind" charge to take the
overall lead in the Quad Am and Pro combo class today. Wiatt Blake
had a good ride in the second moto today to get the overall
win and maintain a series lead by a slim margin over his brother
Travis. However, in the first moto there was a great battle between
the Blake brothers that came down to the last turn. In fact,
neither Travis nor Wiatt made around the last turn, Wiatt tried to
make a last second pass and the two got tangled up and both flipped
their Quads. Taylor Bowers was right there to capitalize and got
the first moto win!
It was good to see
the Hewetson brothers at the track today, Craig looked as though he
never missed a race out there today. Craig's girlfriend is not
doing so well and he has been spending extra time with her, so he
hasn't had much time for racing this season. Our best wishes go out
to her!! Craig came away with a very convincing win in the 250cc B
class. Also, James came in second in the 250cc School Boy
class.
Steven Glendenning
was a "DOUBLE WINNER" today, he won the 250cc School Boy and the
250cc C classes!! He is our current Points Leader in both classes!!
I see a couple Series Championships in his future!! One thing I
have to mention about the 250cc School Boy class is how close every
race really is, the regular riders in this class (Steven, Chase
Brown, Tyler Norris, James Hewetson, Michael Perdue, to name a few)
are never separated by any breathing room, one mistake by any
rider, and they lose a spot. The competition is evenly matched and
enjoyable to watch!
Cole Smith
was also a "DOUBLE WINNER" today! He got very convincing wins in
the 65cc and the Mini-Senior classes!! Cole has really improved in
the last season and a half!! In fact, I would say he is covering
the big sweeper after the finish line as fast (if not faster) then
most all of the big bikes on the track. It's hard to believe he is
only 11 years old riding a mini racer. You can tell he has really
worked hard! He completely disappeared from the pack in both races
today!!
Once again Vince
Boggs got the "Hole-Shot" in both motos of the D class. He just
can't quite hold onto the lead for the win. But he is improving
with each race. Maybe "Big Guys MX School" is in his future!! Eric
Carpenter is edging closer every race to the points lead in this
class. In fact once everyone hits their 13 races, I expect to see a
"leader change". I can see a Championship coming Eric's way this
season!!
Jacob Visnic
pretty well blew away the competition in the Quad 50cc class today,
he got the "Hole Shot" and checked out!! Nice ride Jacob!!
I think Ricky
Crosby was eating his "Wheaties" this morning before the race, not
only did he make a comeback from last-to-first in the Quad Junior
class, he proceeded to leave the pack behind for good win!!
The Open A / Open
B class combo is becoming a crowd favorite, Billy Burton and Cody
Longwell had a good battle until Cody lost his seat. Those frame
rails have to be hard on the butt!! Billy closes the gap of
the class points lead to within 4 points with the win today. Dustin
Lamp got the Open B win and in the process hung right in there with
Cody for a good portion of the moto. I am betting he picked up some
good lines today!!
Braxton
Brown got the win in the 50cc (4-6) Race Bike class and Tate Elliot
destroyed a rear wheel on his KTM, Tate Elliot got the win in the
(4-6) Trail Bike Class, and Jakob Hupp came away with the win in
the 50cc (7-8) race Bike Class!! Great rides to all of you!!
Chris Layman has
been "holding his own" exceptionally well in the Open C Class
lately. This may not sound like a ringing endorsement, but you have
to remember Chris is really a 40+ rider (that really doesn't look
his age) racing with a bunch of 18-20 year olds and typically
coming in second or third in most races!! I tend to forget he is
40+ because of his riding ability and stamina!
Well, that is
about it for this race, sorry this is a little late, but we are in
a shutdown at work and I haven't had much time. Hope to see
everyone at the next race on August 1st!!
